Fall Events Recap!
Our fall event season has just about wrapped up and we thought it would be a great time to highlight some of the amazing performances that our students and staff have done. We absolutely love getting out into the community, meeting new people, and sharing our love of the arts!
JC Families Education Fair
We kicked things off with the JC Families Education fair in Hamilton Park, Jersey City on September 12th. This event served as an exhibit for the Educational Institutes in the Jersey City areas. We offered free face painting by our always popular and amazingly talented Mimi!
Care Point Health Block Party
On September 26th we attend our sponsor, Care Point Health’s first annual Block Party in Hoboken’s Church Square Park. This is an event that we will look forward to in years to come, it featured live music, a bounce house, and even characters from Disney’s Frozen! Our face painter Mimi and her wonderful face painting creations added to the fun event.
Hoboken Arts and Music Festival
We always look forward to the Arts and Music Festival, and this year was no exception! In addition to passing out tutus at our booth on Washington, some of our talented students performed at the event. Our Annie Mac Dance Co (a group that is at the studio training each day of the week!) performed a jazz routine to ‘Lullabye of Broadway’ choreographed in a master class by instructor Brad Trump. Our Intermediate/Advanced Ballet class revived their ‘Born Free’ performance from our 2015 Spring Recital choreographed by instructor Laura Bailey. Garden Street Music was also well represented with performances by instructors Michi and Mari and solo vocal performances from students David Masseti, Stella Borelli, and Georgia Brewer. We are constantly in awe of the progress of our performers and it was great to share it with the Hoboken community!
Harvest Festival
This past weekend we had the honor of performing at the Hoboken Harvest Festival in Pier A Park. Our Garden Street Band featured Owner Daniel Mcloughlin, Instructor Brian Lawlor, Music School Coordinator and Drums Instructor Mike McLoughlin, Dance and Music Instructor Andrea, and general assistant Alex Kirby. The band performed folk-sy songs with a rock edge. Crowd favorites included ‘You Are My Sunshine’ and ‘Crazy’. Our Irish Step students then took the stage for the finale. Performers aged 3-13 and long-time instructor Joanna Barry (see this month’s Instructor Spotlight to learn more about Joanna!) performed for an awesome crowd following our band’s performance. It was wonderful to see the range of ages onstage, and members from the audience were even invited up to participate!
Up next for us? Our 10th Annual Halloween Spooktacular Party on October 31st! This is an event offered exclusively to current students and is sure to be a ‘scream’ of a good time! Dance, Music, and Theater students can RSVP to the party by emailing dance@gardenstreetmusic.com.
